Hannah and Izzy Ralph opened the bowling in some really good areas and a really positive performance in the field. Cambridge’s openers were up to the task however, with their opener and number 3 both making half centuries. The breakthrough finally came from Hetty who had a great spell, however we found it difficult in the heat against a more experienced team. Debutant Emma Radley took her first wicket for the club in the 24th over, which allowed Hannah and Izzy to come back towards the end and clear through the Cambridge middle order, taking 2 wickets each and Cambridge finishing on 243-6. Our openers, Tanvi and Orla, were extremely consistent and Cambridge failed to take any wickets until the 20th over, a great effort by both girls against some exceptional seam bowling from the MCCU side. Izzy Dobbins looked confident and scored a superb boundary before falling to the Cambridge spin bowler. Debutants Izzy Ralph and Saumya Seth saw off the rest of the game for Warwick with great running between the sticks from Izzy and boundaries from both players, resulting in Izzy taking home a deserved player of the match. We finished on a very respectable 80-3 and can take a lot of positives from a difficult first game away from home. On to the next one!
